Loraine Brinkhurst has represented Newbridge ward on Bath & North East Somerset Council since 1995, and is proud to serve her local community.
She was born in Bath and she has lived in Newbridge for 34 years, and has been active in the community throughout this time. She originally stood as a councillor after successfully campaigning for a crossing by Hartwells Garage. This was after 2 local children were knocked down, and the new crossing made it safe for people of all ages to cross this very busy road.
She has grown up 6 children and 6 grandchildren and has served as the Mayor of Bath and Chairman of Bath & North East Somerset Council. Her 25 year background working locally in health has allowed her to serve knowledgably on the Social Services and Health Committees since 1996.
Loraine has been the spokesperson for Social Services for the Liberal Democrat Group since 1998 as well as supporting her residents in Newbridge and helping them with any issues that they have raised. Loraine is also an active charity fundraiser and received the MBE in2010 for her service to the community of Bath & North East Somerset Council.
She is proud to have had the opportunity to work for the community and
support residents in Newbridge for the last 16 years as their councillor.
