Cllr Manda Rigby was elected to B&NES Council to represent Abbey ward in May 2011.
Manda Rigby was born in Bolton, and did her first degree at Bristol University where she also had a Sabbatical year as President of the Students' Union. After graduating, she went into the City where she worked for 10 years. She then moved into the technology sector, running marketing for Cisco in the UK and Microsoft Business UK as well as being Managing Director of Netgear UKI. She then set up her own business doing management consultancy and took several high profile roles, including at the London development Agency and the ntl/Telewest merger. She did a lot of work bringing technology to charities, most notably being the UK organiser of NetAid and launching the Comic Relief website.
She moved to Bath in 2007 to do an MA in creative writing at Bath Spa university and has made Bath her home. She has always worked hard to help her community, and has been an active campaigner in Bath, as well as being a Samaritan.
Hobbies include writing, looking after dogs and a very unhealthy obsession with Bolton Wanderers and Bath FC! On the council she is Vice-Chair of the Resources panel and also sits on the Economic and Community Development panel and the Licensing Committee. Manda is also the current Chairman of Bath City Football Club, and was voted 2011 Bath's Woman of the Year.
