Dr Yukteshwar Kumar (YK) is a Liberal Democrat campaigner in Lambridge.
Dr Kumar was born in India and has been politically active since his student days. He was All India Student Leader and successfully campaigned for a ban against Indian students learning foreign languages to be lifted.
After teaching in Indian and Chinese Universities for over 14 years, Dr Kumar joined the University of Bath as Course Director for the MA in Interpreting and Translating (Chinese Stream) in 2007. He speaks five languages and is a regular lecturer and published author on language and international relations.
Dr Kumar is committed to campaigning on local issues in Lambridge and solving residents' problems. He has been actively participating in and organising community events, including speaking at local schools and churches. As a campaigner, Dr Kumar is particularly interested in environmental issues, internationalism, and health. He has also been Hindu advisor to both B&NES and Wiltshire County Councils.
