Lisa was elected to represent Walcot Ward in 2011

wt1Having studied Electronics in the eighties, Lisa worked in manufacturing for a number of years before joining Voluntary Service Overseas in 1989 to become a teacher in Nigeria. From 1994 to 2000, she lived in Latin America where she was appointed to the Executive Board of a charity established to support victims of Hurricane Mitch. Returning to UK, she worked for Victim Support's National Office where she was responsible for delivering statutory funding and sat on several international project steering groups. During this time, she worked closely with the European Forum for Victim Support Schemes and with the European Commission. In addition, she has a record of successful management in the commercial sector, having worked as a Business Development Director for two companies.

Lisa has lived in Walcot for ten years with her husband and three children. As a result, she has first-hand experience of nursery, primary and secondary school provision in Bath. She is determined to see the highest standard of education in all our schools.

Like many, Lisa feels it is unacceptable that First Bus should determine the level of bus fares or bus routes without considering the impact this will have on the community, particularly for young people as well as older and vulnerable people.. She strongly favours the introduction of quality partnerships between the council and bus service providers.

The London Road should be regenerated, and this is a priority of Lisa's. To this end, she attends meetings of the London Road and Snow Hill Partnership in an effort to gain a clear understanding of what has been trialed in the past, what is known to work well and what obstacles exist to regeneration in order to build on lessons learnt.

Lisa is also involved in a community gardening project in Kensington Gardens that aims to provide a pleasant green space for local people to enjoy.

Across B&NES Lisa would like to see:

  • A lowering of congestion on our roads
  • The highest standard of education in all schools
  • All residents' living in decent housing
  • Cleaner streets
  • High standards of public health, particularly for the elderly
  • Crime brought to a national low
  • Effective implementation of sustainable green policies
  • Greater community cohesion.
