Funding to help improve the energy efficiency of homes and business properties in B&NES has been approved at tonight’s budget Council meeting.
The Liberal Democrat administration has set aside £100,000 to help B&NES residents benefit from the “Green Deal” – a government initiative led by the Liberal Democrats in the coalition and aimed at increasing the energy efficiency of homes and commercial properties. B&NES Council signed up in support the Green Deal in Autumn 2011.

Culverhay Campaigners Breath Sigh of Relief

Parents and local Councillors, who have been campaigning to save Culverhay school, have welcomed news that the Council’s decision-making process has come to an end.
Councillor Dine Romero (Liberal Democrat, Southdown), who has been a leading campaigner for Culverhay to be saved and become a co-educational school, explains:
“One of the first actions of the new Lib Dem administration was to set the wheels in motion to reverse the Conservatives’ decision to close Culverhay. It has taken several months to work through the various stages of the statutory process, but the last hurdle has now been cleared.
