Andrew Furse was elected to represent Kingsmead Ward in 1994.He was first elected to the Council for Kingsmead in 1994 and was previously Chair of the influential Overview and Scrutiny Panel for Education, Youth, Culture and Leisure. Currently, he is Chairman of the Council's Audit Committee.
He works in Bath as a chartered engineer for a railway safety consultancy. He lives in Kingsmead ward and has two daughters who attend a local secondary school.
Andy has worked on a number of projects in the city including:
- Improvements to school meals
- Setting the agenda for co-educational status at Oldfield school via the secondary school review
- Green spaces strategy: protecting allotments and working towards improvements to Royal Victoria Park
- Improvements to our local environment e.g. Kingsmead Square, public spaces and the River Path.
Andy says "We must protect our green spaces, tackle crime and antisocial behaviour, and ensure schools in the city remain high quality.
"Residents need to be kept informed on major projects like Western Riverside and City Centre developments.
"From listening to many of you on the doorstep, I have a good idea about what the people of Kingsmead ward want from the Council. I hope to continue working to ensure Kingsmead residents get a fair deal"
