Southdown ward borders on Oldfield Park and Twerton, at the south-west edge of the city. Southdown is a heavily residential area, and less than 1% of the people employed in Bath and North East Somerset work here.
Local councillors are presently working with the YMCA centre in Mount Road to provide activities for young people in the area, Cllr Godfrey said: "There was a problem with the young people gathering in the play area. There were various things happening and residents were very upset.
"But quite a few of the youngsters have started to go to the YMCA now and there have been no problems there. It seems to have been a big help."
Also, thousands of pounds are being invested in local community centres and a major fund-raising bid is set to be launched to get Southside Community Centre back into public use. Cllr Crossley told the Bath Chronicle "We need to hear from people who would be interested in using the centre.
"We want to build up a package of reasons why it is essential to reopen
it." Once we have done that, we can launch funding bids. If you can help,
please get in touch using the details below.
