Don Foster MP joins students
protesting against tuition fees
The Liberal Democrats estimate that over 32,000 people each year are missing out on a university education as a direct result of tuition fees.
Numbers of new students starting university were gradually increasing year on year up until tuition fees were introduced.
The year before tuition fees were introduced the number of new students increased by 13.7%. After tuition fees were introduced the number of new students starting university dropped by some 2.0%.
Unsurprisingly, it also appears that the people missing out the most (based on comparing UCAS reports from over the last 6 years) are from so-called "lower class" backgrounds.
The more educated we (in the UK) are, the better all of our futures will be.

It isn't all about the big issues like tuition
fees. Local Liberal Democrats are working hard to make day-to-day life in Bath
easier and more rewarding for its students.
Reliable, affordable transport is important to us. The rights of students to
live in safe housing is important to us. All the stuff that matters to you,
matters to us. Got a problem? Or a suggestion? Your local Lib Dem team would
