In
1999, 30 Liberal Democrat, 17 Labour, 16 Conservative and 2 Independent Labour
councillors were elected to Bath and North East Somerset Council.
In 2002, following Government instructions, Bath and North East Somerset Council changed the way it is managed. Under new rules, the majority of Council decisions are taken by an executive committee (the 'Cabinet').
Three of our executive councillors:
Cllrs Todd, O'Flaherty, and Crossley.
Only the Liberal Democrats took up the challenge of sitting in the cabinet. Labour and the Conservatives declined to serve.
In 2003, the Liberal Democrats, Conservatives, and Independent political groups formed a working partnership to run the Council Executive.
We are also the only political group in Bath to have a web site, making ourselves more easily accessible to you.
The Liberal Democrats have a web page for every ward. To see the web site for your ward, or to find the ward you live in, click here. Each page gives details of how to contact us.
