According to the office of National Statistics, just under 30% of all people who are employed in Bath & North East Somerset, work in this ward. Abbey is the bustling centre of the city, a vibrant mix of business and residential areas dominated by some of the finest Georgian and Victorian architecture to be found in the UK.
Much of Bath's vitally important tourist trade is centered on the Abbey ward - alongside the Abbey which gives the ward its name, the Roman Baths and new Bath Spa are located here.
