    Don was today named as a runner-up in the Sports Parliamentarian of the Year Awards following a joint nomination from the West of England Sport Trust (Wesport) and the British Paralympic Association.

    Don was instrumental in establishing 'Team West of England', a group which under his chairmanship has worked to achieve a regional legacy from the 2012 Games. Don's efforts have also helped ensure that the University of Bath was chosen to host the 'preparation camp' for ParalympicsGB ahead of London 2012. Don's knowledge and experience of the sector at a national level were also highlighted, as was his championing of equality of access to sport

    On Tuesday 13 December, Don Foster MP sponsored Martin Caton MP's Presentation Bill on Flue Gas Recovery Devices. The Bill promotes the use of an innovative British technology that utilises the waste heat from boilers to provide hot water. The system fits the criteria of the Green Deal as it will assist with reducing emissions and also help in alleviating fuel poverty.

    Don Foster MP has welcomed the Government's decision to keep the mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for those in care homes. Working closely with Bath MENCAP and local residents affected by proposals to remove the benefit, Don has fought to ensure the payment would not be scrapped. Don was the first MP to raise the issue at Prime Minister's Questions in January 2011 and has had a series of further meetings with Ministers on the issue.

    Don Foster MP has welcomed his Live Music Bill becoming one step closer to law. The Bill, which will free small venues from red tape when showcasing live music and make it easier to stage events in school and village halls, has successfully passed its second reading in the House of Commons.

    The Live Music Bill was tabled in the Lords by the Liberal Democrats. Don Foster is the Bill's sponsor in the House of Commons.
