State of the Art Elderly Persons Home Gets Green Light

4.15.00pm GMT Wed 1st Dec 2004

A brand new state of the art elderly persons home has received the green light and has been granted planning permission with unanimous support at Bath South's Area Committee.

Cllr Gerry Curran (Liberal Democrat; Twerton) Chairs the Council's joint Panel that oversees the new Elderly Persons Home project, says:

"I am delighted that the new Elderly Persons Home that is to be built at our Carswood site in Twerton has received the full backing of Councillors.

"The new Carswood home will be one of three brand new homes that will not only replace our existing EPHs but will also provide extra care shelter housing and specialist nursing care provision for those suffering from degenerative illness.

"We are leading the country with this proposed state of the art provision and are ensuring that those that need care have the best facilities possible."

The planning permission means that the Council can now move forward with the new care home in Bath. This is one of three new homes - the other two being in Keynsham and Midsomer Norton where construction has already begun.
