Children's Champion delighted with 2 star rating4.57.00pm GMT Wed 17th Nov 2004 Bath & North East Somerset Council's Children's Champion, Cllr Loraine Brinkhurst, has said how delighted she is with the endorsement social services has received with its two star rating and the recognition of the good work the council does with vulnerable and looked after children. Councillor Loraine Brinkhurst (Newbridge; Liberal Democrat) the Council's Children's Champion says: "I am extremely delighted that the children's area of social services have done so well and in particular the success of our looked after children in achieving such success at GCSE level. We are proud of our young people, who with their success at A level, have gone on to university. "As corporate parents we hope that many of our looked after children will continue to do as well and take the opportunities that are available to them within further education which I believe will stand them in good stead in the future." The Commission for Social Care Inspection have awarded the Council a 2 star rating for the third year running.
