Bitter Blow for Bath's Communities

Don has slammed Post Office Ltd.'s consultation process, following the news that six local post offices in Bath are to close.

"It is a huge, huge disappointment," said Don.

"The news that, despite all our excellent campaigning, these closures are going to go ahead will be bitterly received by Bath's local communities.

"As we've witnessed in the past, the post office's so-called consultation is a sham, and their blinkered pre-occupation with the "one mile rule" will be little comfort to many people who have "

"What I want to do is provide an opportunity for people in the affected communities to provide evidence of how they will be affected.

"Then we will sit down with councillors and discuss whether it is possible we could persuade the Post Office to minimise some of the effects.

"Something which is not ideal but may be the next best thing is for mobile post office facilities. That is something we could look at."
