Olympic Turbine Plan a Welcome Step4.48.23pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 12th Oct 2006 The Liberal Democrats have welcomed plans for one of Britain's tallest wind turbines to be built for the London 2012 Olympics. Bath's MP and Liberal Democrat Shadow Culture, Media and Sport Secretary, Don Foster, said: "For four weeks in 2012 the eyes of the world will be on Britain. We must do everything that we can to ensure we set an example not just on the athletics track, but in everything associated with the Olympics." Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP, who recently visited Bath, said: "This is a welcome step, but it is important that the Olympics are not just a low carbon games - they should be carbon neutral. This huge chance to showcase the need for green action to change our lives should not be passed up. "This is particularly important since the Beijing Olympics are likely to be a missed opportunity to highlight the importance of tackling climate change to the whole world."
