Are you entitled to a veteran's badge?2.16.50pm UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 8th Jan 2007 Bath's MP, Don Foster, has today launched a drive to bring to the attention of all those who served in the UK Armed Forces between 3 September 1945 and 31 December 1969, that they may be entitled to a "Veteran's Badge". The following can also qualify: Merchant Navy seamen, Home Guard, Polish Forces under UK command, members of the Cyprus Regiment during the Second World War and veterans of the Suez Canal Zone (1951-54) as well as war widows and widowers who receive a War Widows/Widowers Pension. The badge cannot be issued posthumously as it is a survivors' badge which is to be worn on civilian clothing. Commenting, Don said: "Many Bath residents have served this country and I am delighted that their heroic acts and sacrifices are being recognised through the issuing of the Veteran's Badge. "If anyone feels that they might qualify for the badge they are welcome to contact my office at 31 James Street West, Bath BA1 2BT, or give me a call on 01225 338973 for an application form." ENDS
