12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 11th Nov 2004

Don has slammed Post Office Ltd.'s consultation process, following the news that six local post offices in Bath are to close.

"It is a huge, huge disappointment," said Don.

"What I want to do is provide an opportunity for people in the affected communities to provide evidence of how they will be affected.

"Then we will sit down with councillors and discuss whether it is possible we could persuade the Post Office to minimise some of the effects.

"Something which is not ideal but may be the next best thing is for mobile post office facilities. That is something we could look at."
