Budget Passed

Last month B&NES Council approved the Liberal Democrat budget for 2013/14. This Liberal Democrat budget shows that we listen to residents and have prioritised the services which matter most to them, from youth services to weekly bin collections.

Dine Romero said “We recognise that the current economic climate is tough which is why we have frozen Council tax for a further year. In fact, there have been no increases in Council tax since the Liberal Democrats took control of the Council in 2011."

The Liberal Democrat administration is prioritising sensible investments to secure new homes and jobs for local people.

The Council branded this as a listening budget and inclued amendments from the other political parties. Despite this, Conservative Councillors preferred to play political games rather than supporting this budget which delivers so much for local communities.

The budget was adopted by 38 votes to 24 with 1 abstention.

Around the Ward

We are delighted that already Bath Community Academy has improved so dramatically that the special measures that it was put into whilst it was under threat of closure as Culverhay are now resolved and deemed unnecessary.

We have asked Curo to remove several flytips from the Rosewarn field.

Have asked for the wall at the junction of The Hollow and Haycombe Drive to be repaired.

Core Strategy Passed

The Council has passed it's Core Strategy. This strategy sets out where the housing and jobs will be built for the next 20 years.

We're proud that this strategy provides affordable housing for local people, produces jobs to strengthen the economy, and still manages to protect the green belt where possible.
