Welcome to our May eNewsletter, and at last there is real warmth in the sunshine...at times... FOXHILL MoD SITE NEWS The big news for our area is that the MoD have announced publicy that Curo Community Housing Trust is the Developer for the Foxhill Site. This is good news, as Curo have told us they also intend to regenerate their housing stock in Foxhill, and share our values in wanting to see an integrated approach to the development with the surrounding neighbourhoods, particularly Foxhill. Curo have a lot of housing stock on Foxhill, and neighbouring areas like Trinity Road, and so are very familiar with our area. We have had several meetings with Curo, and with Council Officers and the Administration Cabinet. We have also been in regular touch with Don Foster, who is active in supporting this Community, and helping with this important development and change. The MoD have now vacated the site, and Curo have started to gather the views and concerns from their tenants in the Ward, and will widen out to consult publicly and hold stakeholder meetings. As we have reported in our newsletters previoulsy, Nigel Dann and the group Foxhill Futures have begun an excellent work in holding open events, and gathering views from residents as to what they would like to see in this development and regeneration of the site. This MoD Site Development will affect the whole of Combe Down and wider, with regard to infrastructure amongst other factors. We are organising an initial Public meeting in Combe Down, where the CX of Curo will be present and other Officers to tell us their proposed time schedule, and consultation process, and to hear from residents, and answer questions. The Meeting will be held on Thursday June 13th, at 6.30pm, at Combe Down Primary School Hall, Summer Lane, Combe Down. Please put the date in your diaries and come along. It is in its design stage, and will go out for consultation. This long standing request being realised should make this junction much safer by slowing down traffic on the nasty bend going west, where there have been a number of "near misses" for people on the crossing because of vehicles travelling too fast. There be two crossing points, one across the top of RAD, and also another to the east of the junction for people walking into town or to Prior Park College. We also hope that it will make it easier for Combe Down residents across the junction on their way home. Combe Down Bus Shelter Improvements
The bus stop in the Avenue will be moved to a position just a few metres down the Avenue, with a replacement shelter in the position of the present one. It is hoped the works will happen at the end of May. The stop and shelter on North Road will be made much more accessible to wheel chairs users and those with mobility difficulties. The present ramp is much too steep to allow easy access and will be replaced with a new "low gradient". The shelter will be replaced with a new shelter with Real Time Information, which will tell people waiting at the bus stop how long before the next bus arrives. Core Strategy Consultation
The Core Strategy was adopted at the Full Council meeting, 4th March. It is very important we have a strategy in place to control and manage development. We are subject to the strong steer of the Government Inspector in getting our Strategy through, and have resisted the higher numbers of new homes suggested for our area, reducing the number across the area to 12,722, with a target of 10,000 jobs increase covering the period between 2011 - 2029. Consultation on The Council’s Core Strategy is taking place currently, Have your say and use this link to find out more and take part: http://www.bathnes.gov.uk/corestrategy Local Planning Applications

Reminder: Next Cabinet Meeting Webcast 8th May
This Administration started Webcasting Cabinet Meetings from February this year. Next live Webcast will be the Cabinet Meeting on 8th May at 6.30pm. You can look up the previous meetings in the Archive Library on the site. For more on this, use the link here: http://combedown.mycouncillor.org.uk/2013/04/22/cabinet-webcast-next-meeting-to-watch-may-8th/ Williamstowe - Access & Exit
Residents in Williamstowe have asked for the parking bays each side of the entrance to be moved back slightly (to the previous positions) to give better sight lines when exiting Williamstowe. We have contacted the Safety Highways Officer who has agreed to do this work, and refresh the white line at the entrance. Next year in the Council work programme there will be the chance to review the need to have yellow lines across the entrance to stop the many vehicles who make temporary stops there, and block the road. Work in Progress - Action
As a result of asking last Month for the Zig Zag Lines and Bus stop marking outside the School to be refreshed (see picture right) these have been done, prompt work by the Highways Team.
.
Last Enewsletter we reported damage done to the grass verge in Bradford Park by Council vehicles, we were alerted to this by a couple of concerned residents, and we are grateful for alerts like this. This has now been repaired after we chased it up. See the before and after Pics below!
Please get in touch with us if there is anything you think we can help with in your Street and area, or if you need advice.

We have long campaigned for a roundabout, and crossing facility, and have secured this in the works programme for this year. There is money in the Council's highways budget for the construction of a roundabout.
Both the bus stops and shelters at the top of the Avenue and on North Road near the Hadley Arms are the subject of improvements.
