Urgent talks to resolve the parking situation around the Royal United Hospital are desperately needed according to local Councillor Caroline Roberts, who said,
"The parking situation in Newbridge is becoming intolerable. Lack of space at the hospital and parking charges are forcing staff members and visitors to park all over the place - even across residents' drives and on corners, making entering and exiting driveways extremely dangerous. Ambulances were recently unable to pick up two people from Penn Lea Road due to the parking problems.
"Residents understand that people need to get to work and to visit the hospital, but almost every road in the area has now had problems, whereas in the past this has been a quiet residential area. Local people are fed up and are demanding that something should be done.
"I have contacted the RUH and the Highways Department to try and set up a meeting to negotiate a solution. We have managed to solve problems in the past, such as in Cedric Road, so I hope that by talking together a resolution can be found."
