Post Office Decision on Thursday

May 27, 2008 5:27 PM
Don Foster Lower Weston Save Bath's Post Offices

Don Foster MP marched with residents between Lower Weston and the alternative at Weston village.

The decision over the Network Change Programme for post offices in Bristol and Somerset will be announced on Thursday of this week, around 7 weeks after the end of the consultation.

Liberal Democrats in Bath submitted around 5,000 signatures to the consultation, calling for offices to remain open. Those under threat are at Bathford, Bear Flat, Claremont and Lower Weston. Nationally, Labour will have closed over 7,000 post offices at the end of this round of closures. Before them the Tories closed 3,500.

Don Foster MP will be responding to the decision on Thursday. Midday at Lower Weston and 1.15pm at Bear Flat. There is a chance we will be celebrating, but if not then we will be taking the campaign to Downing Street! Come along and make your voice heard on the decision this Thursday.

If you are a resident of the Bath constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
