Cllr Andy Furse has called for the people of Bath to be represented on the Rec trust
At the Council AGM tonight, Councillor Andy Furse (Lib Dem, Kingsmead) will move a suggested amendment to the Council's Constitution to create a seat for a Bath resident on the Bath Recreation Ground Trust.
The amendment reads as follows:
Insert new paragraph 2.11 to the Recommendation as follows:
2.11 Recommend that the Leader of the Council amend the terms of reference of the Bath Recreation Ground Trust, as set out in Appendix 2, as follows:
Membership
Any three members of the Cabinet not necessarily in political proportion and a co-opted member resident of Bath in a non-voting capacity.
Reason
This will enable the residents of Bath to be represented in the decision making process on Trust issues.
Councillor Furse said, "I believe that having a resident representative on the Trust (which is a Committee of the Council) will provide greater transparency and promote accountability. It will also assist the Trust in its responsibility to act in the interests of Bath residents - recognising that the Rec was conveyed to the Mayor, Aldermen and citizens of Bath, for the Corporation to administer in Feb 1956."
