Odd Down Councillors are angry that a decision to close the Odd Down Youth Club on 1 April has lead to the building being vandalised and broken into three times. The Youth club was due to close on 1 April and pass to Bath Area Play Project (BAPP). However the process was started late and so no lease has been signed which has lead to the unoccupied building becoming a target for vandals.

In three separate incidents, vandals have broken into the youth club, removing window panes and smashing doors with sledgehammers to gain entry. They have attempted to steal equipment from the youth club and have damaged the interior, breaking glass and filling the hall with rubble and rubbish.

Cllr Steve Hedges said, "It is entirely predictable that this building, once unoccupied, would become a target for vandals. It is the Council's responsibility to look after the building and this Council has failed by not ensuring a quick handover to BAPP. It has now fallen to the Police to stop things getting worse."
Cllr Nigel Roberts added, "The Cabinet knew that it was cutting the youth budget, yet they wasted over a year before trying to make arrangements for this building. This should all have been sorted out a long time ago.
"We have written to Councillor Chris Watt, the Cabinet member responsible for youth services, and to the Council's Chief Executive to demand that they take action to get BAPP into this building as a matter of urgency - before any more damage is done."
