January 24, 2008 12:32 PM

Local Councillors and the Police are to team up and hold a monthly public "Surgery" in Oldfield ward.

Will and Shaun

Cllrs McGall and Sandry are working closely with local PCSOs

For the past five years Oldfield ward Councillors have held an open public surgery on the first Saturday of every month between 11:30 and 12:30 in the foyer of the Co-Op Scala on Shaftesbury Road.

Cllr Shaun McGall said: "Our Surgery has become well established. Oldfield ward residents know that their Councillors are available at a fixed time and location every month."

He added: "Residents can of course contact us by 'phone or email at anytime, but often people prefer face to face contact."

Cllr Will Sandry said: "I was delighted when Julie Matthews, one of the two Oldfield Ward Police Community Support Officers (PCSO) accepted my invitation to join our Surgery. This can only be of benefit to the community."

PCSO Julie Matthews said: "I'm frequently on the beat with my colleagues in the ward, but this will provide a great opportunity for us to be at a specific place, at a specific time and enable members of the community to speak with us in person about any concerns they have."

The next surgery will start at 11:30 on Saturday 2nd February 2008 in the foyer of the Co-Op Scala on Shaftesbury Road. An appointment is not necessary and if residents need to discuss a confidential matter, a private appointment can be arranged.

If you are a resident of the Bath constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
