Slowdown in Southdown

Cllrs Romero and Crossley at the Whiteway Road site

Southdown Councillors Dine Romero and Paul Crossley have welcomed the installation of a third variable speed message board in Southdown. It has been placed in Southdown Road and will be activated when cars pass it at speeds greater than 30 mph. The first two signs were placed on the Whiteway Road and Englishcombe Lane

Cllr Crossley said, "Speeding is one of the biggest problems for residents in Southdown. The other two signs which we secured for the area have worked well in getting drivers to adjust their speeds. We hope this one in Southdown Road will be equally effective."

Cllr Romero added, "Speed kills and here in Southdown we have been campaigning for a long time to try to make drivers aware of the speeds they are going and hopefully get all speeds down on residential roads. I am very hopeful that over time we can adopt the Portsmouth scheme and designate most of our residential roads as 20mph limits."

If you are a resident of the Bath constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
