Recycle your Yellow Pages!

September 27, 2006 10:01 AM

Lib Dems on Bath & North East Somerset Council are calling on residents to recycle their old copies of the Yellow Pages in the weekly green box collections, when they receive their new editions in the next few weeks.

The Yellow Pages will be recycled to provide animal bedding and should therefore be enclosed in a plastic bag to keep them dry.

Councillor Caroline Roberts (Newbridge), a leading Lib Dem environmental campaigner, said:

"This is a great opportunity to remind residents of Bath & North East Somerset of the Council's commitment to recycling - we are one of the few local authorities in the country to have adopted a zero waste strategy, and we should take every opportunity to increase the level of recycling. The Liberal Democrats have led the way in making this Council one of the best for recycling."

"We also need to be creative about finding uses for hard to recycle items, such as Yellow Pages which cannot be recycled into newsprint."

"I'm proud Bath & North East Somerset is setting the standard for recycling, and I look forward to sharing our experience with the Lib Dems' Westminster spokesman on the environment, Chris Huhne MP, when he visits Bath & North East Somerset this week."

If you are a resident of the Bath constituency and are writing to discuss any issue that Parliament or government is responsible for, you must provide your home address as MPs are generally only permitted to act on behalf of constituents.

If you are not a constituent, you do not need to provide your address, but the matters we can deal with are more limited and you may wish to contact your local MP in the first instance.
