Lib Dems agree new projects to improve road safety

Liberal Democrat Councillors on the Bath South Area Committee have agreed an extra £50,000 of road safety projects across Bath South that were suggested by local Councillors and local residents.
Over 16 different projects have been agreed.
Cllr Nigel Roberts (Liberal Democrat; Odd Down) who Chairs the Bath South Area Committee says:
"These measures have been brought forward and decided upon by local residents and Councillors to address small but pressing road safety issues in our communities.
"The £50,000 will deliver 16 road safety improvements to improve safety across our communities. We are trying to deliver as much impact as possible with this limited budget.
"This is just one example of how the new area committee can work with local residents to ensure decisions are brought closer to the community and made with their needs in mind."
The 16 schemes agreed by the Bath South Area Committee that is made up of 14 Councillors of which 13 are Lib Dems, are:
Lyncombe ward: Anti-motorcycle barrier at the bottom of Maple Gardens & an Advisory 20mph scheme at Chaucer and Poet's Corner; Westmoreland ward: Anti-motorcycle barrier in Brickfields; Combe Down ward: additional wooden bollards in the Firs to stop parking on grass verges, dropped kerbs at Greendown Place/Bradford Road and advisory 20mph signs on the roads leading to Combe Down Village; Odd Down ward: Anti-motorcycle barriers in Odins Road and traffic reduction scheme in Vernham Grove; Oldfield ward: bollards in Beckhampton Road to deter parking on the footway and measures to reduce vehicle speeds turning into Edwards Road at the junction of Oldfield Lane and Junction Road; Southdown ward: Measures to stop dangerous and inconsiderate parking and measures to enable parking on the grass verge at Haycombe Drive (using Grasscrete); Twerton ward: Measures to assist children crossing Mount Rd near the YMCA, measures to avoid damage to grass verge in Newton Rd and measures to reduce traffic and parking congestion.
